Inspired by the transformation of metals and rocks, and the fiery surfaces of other planets, the Solar Gold planter was born. The surface of this planter captures and reflects light in mysterious ways, and due to the firing process, has 'sunspots.' It looks great even at night, especially when near a candle. This glaze was developed in collaboration with Tatsubon Pottery and exclusively designed for Dandy Farmer. Check out Tatsubon's other planter, the Mercury Planter.
Tatsubon Pottery was started by Tatsuya Kato, a third generation potter living in the pottery village of Seto City, Japan. This town was made famous for traditionally providing works to the Emperor's family, and for pioneering specific glazes and techniques bearing the namesake of the village. Tatsuya specializes in using Edo period glazes, and is currently working on understanding the mysterious rusu glaze. Similar to us, he likes crunchy snacks while working.
