I’m 'Jacob' the Polemonium reptans (aka Jacob's Ladder). I'm a part sun to bright shade loving plant whose flowers are pink to pale blue, appearing in early summer. I have lacy foliage and will go dormant in winter. I am an outdoor plant that needs some protection from winter winds, but otherwise needs to stay outside all year.
I am used as an accompaniment to bonsai, called a kusamono, and often set next to a larger tree to invoke the ground layer of a larger landscape. We think kusamono have beauty and deserve a place all on their own.
