This one-of-a-kind tree stands apart from the rest. What you see in the photos are what you get, and there will never be another one like it.
I’m Gilly, the Brazilian Rain Tree, native to the Brazilian rainforests. I am a hardwood tree known for my reactive, small leaves that usually close up at night or when agitated. I can get fragrant, puffy flowers when I'm older. I am a symbol of transformation and life cycles, much like the rainforest itself. Keep me in a location that has partial or full sun a few hours a day. I don't suffer from overwatering, so when in doubt, give me a soak.
To water, submerge my pot up to the rim for 5-10 minutes and let me drain thoroughly. Do this about once every 5-7 days, more often when very hot or dry or when my pot feels 1/2 lighter. I don't like to dry out between waterings. I like temperatures between 50-80˚F all year and humidity in winter. Make sure I'm not in the direct line of heaters or ACs as this dries me out quickly. On nice days you can even take me outside, where I’d love to feel the wind through my leaves.
Symbolism: The Brazilian Rain Tree is a cultural icon; its ability to thrive in a diverse environment mirrors the perseverance that lies in the heart of Brazilian culture.
