I’m 'Gaga' the Citron Hot Poker (actually called Kniphofia 'Citron'). I'm a full sun loving plant whose flowers will attract pollinators and hummingbirds. I bloom summer into fall and go dormant in winter. I am an outdoor plant that needs some protection from winter winds, but otherwise needs to stay outside all year.
I am used as an accompaniment to bonsai, called a kusamono, and often set next to a larger tree to invoke the ground layer of a larger landscape. We think kusamono have beauty and deserve a place all on their own.
