'Coco' the Sea Grape

$ 450.00

I’m Coco the Sea Grape, native to the Caribbean and South Florida. I usually grow near the sea, where I make a light barrier between coastlines to protect sea turtles. I have round leathery leaves with reddish veins. New leaves start out with a reddish tint to protect me from the sun and eventually turns green. My sap is sometimes used to dye leather, and like my name suggests, my grape-like fruits are edible. Keep me in a location that has full to partial sun a few hours a day.

To water, submerge my pot in water up to the rim for 10 minutes and let me drain thoroughly. Do this about once every 7-10 days, or when my pot feels about 1/2 lighter. I never like to dry out completely. I like temps above 50 ̊F all year and humidity in winter. In the warm months, bring me outside for some natural air and sun.

Symbolism: In Feng Shui, the Sea Grape's vibrant round leaves and fruit clusters project a robust life force/energy. This is favorable when positioned in the South- the direction symbolizing fame or recognition. The Sea grape holds the Fire element, attributed to passion, zest, and vitality. Coupled with its Chi, 'Li,' these principles of Fire symbolize positive transformation and the ability to create beneficial change.

Includes basic care instructions. We always recommend doing more research as each environment-- and tree!-- is unique. Plate sold separately.
