I’m Bruce the Dwarf Alberta Spruce, and native to the northern forests of North America. I am an evergreen with relatives that get up to 100 feet in the wild and since i'm dwarfed, I grow very very slowly. My scented needles are about 1/4 inch long and grow in a tight densely packed growing habit.
Keep me in a location that has direct sunlight. To water, submerge my pot up to the rim for 20 minutes and let me drain, about once every 5 days, or when my pot feels 1/2 lighter. I stay green all year, so you can enjoy my form even on the coldest days.
Remember, I am an outdoor plant. I only like to stay indoors for a quick meet and greet! In winter, put me in a protected, cool spot where I can go dormant and feel rested come springtime. Read more winterizing care tips online.
Symbolism: Known as The Tree of Birth in Ancient Greece, the Spruce was associated with Artemis, Goddess of the Moon and protector of women . Elsewhere it was carried into European homes to celebrate light and life at the end of winter. The scented needles during the darkest months of the year gave hope and resilience.
