I’m 'Benny', the Weeping Fig Tree, and native to Southeast Asia and Australia. I'm about 6 years old. In the wild, I can grow up to 60 ft tall and can uplift sidewalks and streets if left to my own devices. In a home I make a great indoor bonsai and will stay small. I've been trained to have a loop in my trunk to show off these curves.
I love bright conditions but can tolerate partial shade. To water, submerge my pot up to the rim for 20 minutes. Do this about once every 5-7 or so days, and more often if very hot or dry. You can safely prune back my leaves to keep me in shape twice a year. Keep me away from the direct line of heaters and air conditioners, or any sudden changes in temperature.
Symbolism: It is legendary in East Asia because it is said that Buddha gained enlightenment under the ficus tree. They are also seen as the link between the human and spirit worlds.
