This one-of-a-kind tree stands apart from the rest. What you see in the photos are what you get, and there will never be another one like it!

I’m Jeb, the Jaboticaba tree. I am the most popular fruit-bearing tree native to Brazil. My bark is smooth, with a mottled creamy tan and reddish hue. My bark tends to peel off in curls when I get older and as my trunk and branches expand. I am an evergreen, but shed half my leaves each spring before new growth begins. I'm known for my grape-like fruits that mysteriously grow on my trunk as a mature tree. These berries are used to make jams, juice, and wines.

I like full to part-sun to feel and look my best. When I'm older, I'll produce a cluster of small yellow flowers, which eventually give rise to sweet grapelike fruits. Give me consistent water and temperatures above 50F.

To water, submerge my pot up to the rim for 5-10 minutes. Do this about once every 5-7 days, depending on how quickly my pot dries out. You can check the weight of my pot and water when it feels about 1/2 lighter- I never like to fully dry out. You can safely trim back my newer branches during the spring and summer months keep me in shape.

Symbolism: Its name derives from the Tupi word 'jabuti' meaning 'tortoise' and caba meaning 'place,' summed up as 'the place where tortoises are found.' It's thought that Jaboticabas evolved to grow fruits on their trunks so that animals unable to climb, like the tortoise, could still consume fruit, allowing the species to spread once seeds are ejected.

Includes basic care instructions. We always recommend doing more research as each environment-- and tree!-- is unique. Plate sold separately.
