This one-of-a-kind tree stands apart from the rest. What you see in the photos are what you get, and there will never be another one like it!
I’m Larry the Eastern Larch (Larix laricina), native to Canada and the upper northeastern United States from Minnesota to West Virginia. I am a tall deciduous conifer and make a great bonsai due to my quickly thickening trunk, flaky bark, and yellow color in fall.
I am an outdoor bonsai and will be very unhappy if kept indoors. I need winter temperatures of under 50F to properly enter dormancy and conserve energy through spring. I grow best in full sun, preferably in bright shade during the hottest afternoon hours. Though I am extremely frost hardy and can withstand temperatures under -20F, I should be protected from excess winds and rain in the winter (snow is ok!).
Give me a deep watering by submerging my pot up to the rim once every 5 days, more often, even daily, when on very hot and sunny days in July and August. I like to stay moist, so make sure my soil never dries out. You can fertilize 1-2x per month once my buds have opened in spring.
Age: 8-10 years old
Symbolism: Guided by Feng Shui's Wood element, the Eastern Larch embodies growth and vitality, and ultimately promotes an energetic life force, opening of new paths, and progressive change towards well-being. The 'Zhen' Chi symbolizes Thunder, indicative of sudden transformation and change. Including the Larch in your collection can promote inner exploration and personal transformation.
