'Coco' the Sea Grape - #340

$ 420.00

I’m Coco the Sea Grape, and native to the Caribbean, including southern Florida. I usually grow near the sea, where I make a light barrier between coastlines to protect sea turtles. I have round leathery leaves with reddish veins. New leaves start out with a reddish tint to protect me from the sun and eventually turns green. My sap is sometimes used to dye leather, and like my name suggests, my grape-like fruits are edible. Keep me in a location that has full to partial sun a few hours a day.

To water, submerge my pot in water up to the rim for 20 minutes and then let me drain thoroughly. Do this about once every 7 days, or when my pot feels about 1/2 lighter. I never like to dry out completely. I like temps above 50 ̊F all year and humidity in winter. On nice days you can even take me outside.

Symbolism:

According to The Practical Encyclopedia of Feng Shui, plants with round, flexible leaves are used to promote calmness. The Sea Grape contributes to the flow of love energies, bringing them back around to the occupants much like the circle of life.

Includes care instructions. Plate sold separately.
