I’m Guchi, the Chinese Perfume Tree and native to Southeast Asia. I'm known for my fragrant yellow flowers that are sweet and slightly lemon scented. My flowers can be dried and used in small bud vases or added to cupboards for an additional fresh scent.
I’m shade tolerant but prefer bright indirect light. I'm a beginner-friendly starter bonsai because I tolerate some drought and am very forgiving. The best way to water me is to submerge my pot in water up to the rim for 5-10 minutes about once every 5 days, more often when very hot or dry, or when my pot feels 1/2 lighter. Allow me to drain thoroughly before setting me on my plate.
Symbolism: My plant genus, Aglaia, is the namesake of one of the Three Graces in Greek Mythology. The Graces were symbols of charm and beauty and associated with the goddess of love. In Feng Shui, I'm auspicious for my Wood element and subtle fragrance, believed to attract abundance and good fortune. Coupled with its Chi, 'Zhen,' the Perfume Tree is a potent symbol for the fulfillment of one's potential and the initiation of new life cycles.
Includes basic care instructions. We always recommend doing more research as each environment-- and tree!-- is unique. Plate sold separately.
