This one-of-a-kind tree stands apart from the rest. What you see in the photos are what you get, and there will never be another one like it!
I’m Shay the Philippine Tea Tree, native to Southeast Asia. I’m a medicinal plant in some countries, where my leaves are used as a tea substitute. I also get small white flowers throughout the year that hang like stars, symbolizing courage and heart. You may also know me as the Fukien Tea Tree.
I'm an indoor tree and need temps above 60 ̊F. In the summer I can spend time outdoors in the shade for natural sun and warm air. I love humidity and thrive in bright indirect light. Water every 5-7 days, or when my pot feels 1/2 lighter. Monitor well; you may have to water more often in the height of winter and summer. To water, submerge my pot in water up to the rim for 5-10 minutes and let drain. Keep me away from AC and heater drafts as this dries me out quickly. In the growing season prune sparingly to maintain my shape. Don't over prune- I bloom on new shoots.
Symbolism: The tea tree has medicinal values in Asia where leaves are used as a tea substitute to remedy stomach ailments. In Feng Shui, its Wood element symbolizes growth and vitality, evoking trees reaching towards the sky. Its Chi of 'Zhen,' or thunder, represents awakening and breaking away from old patterns to embrace fresh starts.
