'Zen' the Japanese Elm Tree - Marbled Gray Planter
This Limited Edition of Zen the Japanese Elm Tree in our new Marbled Gray Acorn Planter evokes a playful twist on a classic favorite. Each established Elm tree is underplanted with a Rabbit's Foot Fern to create a mini landscape. This Marbled Gray Acorn Planter with its dreamy off-white and slate-gray swirls and finished with a glossy glaze is a special collaboration with NYC ceramic artist Jonathan Castro.
I’m Zen, the Japanese Elm or Zelkova, and native to Japan and Eastern China. I’m known for my fine-toothed leaves, graceful lines and attractive bark. I do best in full to partial sun conditions. You can water me once every 7-10 days, or more it it’s really hot.
To water, submerge my pot in water up to the rim for 20 minutes and let me drain thoroughly. Although I’m an outdoor plant, I can acclimate to indoor conditions with proper ventilation and light. Keep the window open or put me outside on nice days. In winter, keep me in a cool location far from heaters. If outdoors, protect me well from the winter winds.
The main aspect of Elm symbolism is strength, wisdom and will & intuition. Native American tribes used infusions from the inner root bark to treat colds, coughs, and fever.
Includes care instructions. Plate sold separately.
