Tatsuya Kato is the only ceramicist in Seto City who can reproduce this technique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\"\u003eTo create the negative impression, Kato-san hand carves the original design into a mold, usually wood or plaster. Then, a thin layer of clay is applied to the mold. Once it sets slightly, it’s carefully peeled off and transferred onto the planter surface before firing.
