I’m Boba the Dwarf Umbrella Tree and native to Southeast Asia. My trunk stands upright with many tiny umbrella leaves branching out. My leaves are glossy green and fan out like tiny umbrellas. I’m shade tolerant, and will do fine in northern facing windows or areas that get very little light.
The best way to water me is to submerge my pot in water up to the rim for 10 minutes. Try to keep my leaves dry and make sure there is good air circulation. I like to dry out between waterings, and a good way to test is to pick me up and feel the weight of my pot. If in a shady spot, I can easily go 2-3 weeks before needing water again.
Keep me away from pets! I could give them a very bad day if they decide to eat me.
Symbolism: In China, the Umbrella Tree is one of the most commonly used plants in Feng Shui. Its leaves capture positive energy and the plant is said to attract wealth for the residents. The plant's 'umbrella' leaves symbolize protection from the elements.
