I’m Zen, the Japanese Elm or Zelkova, and native to Japan and Eastern China. I’m known for my fine-toothed leaves, graceful lines and attractive bark. I'm a prolific grower in spring and summer, and provide lots of pruning options. I do best in full to partial sun conditions. You can water me once every 7-10 days, or more it it’s really hot or dry.
To water, submerge my pot in water up to the rim for 20 minutes and let me drain thoroughly.
I benefit from good air circulation. In winter, keep me in a cool location far from heaters.
Symbolism: Elm is associated with strength, wisdom, will, and intuition. Its growth habits portray a reliable, stable tree, and it provide a lot of second chances if you make a mistake.
